vRealize Automation 7 released

“VMTurbo"

So finally it’s here, vRealize Automaiton (vRA) 7 formerly known as vCloud Automation Center (vCAC) was released yesterday 2015-12-17 and as many of you already knows it brings a lot of new features compared to vRA 6.x.

I have blogged about new features for vRA 7 before so this is just a short summary:

  • Per Tenant Branding
  • No more VMware Identity Appliance – Identity management is now included in the vRA virtual appliance (VA) as a serviced you can even have local users for e.g. proof of concept environment
  • Can be deployed in high availability (HA) mode via the first OVA deployment wizar
  • Other non VA services can be distributed via the initial deployment step so you basically assign different roles to available VM/server
  • Blueprints including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Applications and Networking (NSX) via a nice drag ‘n drop interface.
  • Use external approval engines in the workflow via Event Broker Service (EBS).
  • Easier to integrate with external systems
  • Export and Import your blueprint(s).
  • Use vRealize Orchestrator workflows to subscribe any events triggered by any of the following events
    • IaaS life cycle state and entity changes
    • Business groups management operations
    • Approval policy and pre- or post-approval actions
    • Blueprint operations
    • Other system operations
  • Support custom events
  • Support blocking and non-blocking subscriptions
